Meet The Author
John Davis
John Davis has been raising bison on his Colorado ranch
since 1993. He was awarded the “Rookie of the Year” award
in 2016 by the National Bison Association. He received
gold, silver, and bronze awards in his class. In 2021 and
2022, his ranch, 101 Buffalo Ranch, received the highest
sales price at auction for both male and female entry in his
class. His animals are now found throughout North America,
helping foster today’s growing herds. In addition to raising
bison, John collects, restores, and sells the rare Sharps Rifles
used by the buffalo hunters of the 1870s. He is an avid hunter
and post-Civil War Western memorabilia collector.
